Today’s episode is: All Shapes and Sizes.
Yuki is not pleased with Kyo’s performance at school thus far, while Kyo can’t believe Yuki would risk being around so many girls at once. Kyo suggests that he will be accepted into the Zodiac if he can beat Yuki. Tohru accidentally hugs Kyo when trying to keep him and Yuki from fighting. Kyo blows his top off, much to Yuki’s disgust. After running back home, Kyo talks with Shigure. Shigure talks about the control Kyo has thanks to his martial arts training. Kyo may be a black belt in martial arts, but he is a white belt in relationships with people – especially girls. But the only way to improve is to be around other people. That night, Kyo goes out to pick Tohru up on her way home from work. She mistakes him for a molester at first^^; She also gets a chance to explain how much she loves the Cat from the story of the Zodiac.
The next day at school, Tohru gets a bunch of people involved in playing poor man, rich man, includinga Uotani, Hanajima, and Kyo. Yuki gets cornered by a girl who tries to confess her feelings for him. After his refusal, she says how Yuki is nice, but also distant. Yuki comes back to the classroom, and sees Kyo being comfortable there surrounded by people. Uotani seems to really enjoy teasing Kyo as well. Kyo ends up being the poor man, and has to clean the classroom. After work, Tohru finds Yuki came to pick her up. Yuki talks about how much he wants to get away from the Sohma family, and here is Kyo trying to get closer. After Yuki accidentally is transformed by Tohru and transforms back, it starts raining hard. Yuki goes to his secret base, a garden, and protects it with Tohru’s help. And the next day, we find out that Kyo really doesn’t like leeks, onions, or miso – perfect ammunition for Yuki to use.
One thing I like about Fruits Basket, is the character of Tohru. She is so sweet and optimistic in spite of her problems, yet still has an uncertain side:)
