Fruits Basket #20 is out now, and boy do some surprising things take place. Tohru gets some encouragement from Kagura and Rin to tell Kyo how she feels. Unfortunately, at Sohma house come to the breaking point. Momiji and Hiro both have their curse broken, and Akito doesn’t take this very well. Not that it is entirely his fault. Her father, Akira, fell in love with her mother Ren against the wishes of most of the household. In the short time they had together, Akira taught Akito how special she was, and most of the household did the same. But Ren always hated Akito, feeling she took away Akira’s affections. We finally find out what is in Akito’s box – nothing. When Kureno tries to calm Akito down and reason with her, Akito stabs him and runs off. Mean while, when Tohru tries to tell her feelings to Kyo, he admits he knew her mother. They became friends shortly after Kyo came to live with Kazuma. But Kyo became mad when Yuki was the one who found the lost young Tohru and never came back. He never saw Kyoko again until the day of the accident that took her life. He saw the car coming, and could have pulled her out of the way, but that would have meant he would have turned into the cat. He couldn’t bring himself to do it, and Kyoko died. Kyo has been blaming Yuki all this time for everything, but in reality, he blames himself and feels he doesn’t deserve Tohru.
I can’t say I like Akito, but the way she has been raised, how could she be anything other than what she is?
Now, here are some final thoughts on Library Wars, also known as Toshokan Sensou. It is a nice watch, plenty of action, comedy and romance. It is too bad some of the side characters don’t get fleshed out a bit more, but the series is twelve episodes. Also, realism is suspended a bit. Still, this anime has made me think once again about the philosophies behind information and its dissemination, or lack there of. In real life, the issues are not quite so clear cut, and both sides have valid points. , and I don’t think there are any easy answers. And that’s okay. And the anime has a happy ending^^; All in all, not a bad short anime to watch.
I give it a 3/5. Worth seeing. Once.
